Charlotte comes from a heritage background. She studied history at the University of Warwick and the Humbolt University in Berlin. She then moved to the University of Edinburgh to complete her Master’s degree and finally completed an MPhil in Royal Holloway, University of London.

Her specialism is in the material culture of elite family homes, in particular the architecture, interior design and domestic objects which made up elite houses in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Before moving to Cardiff she worked in heritage sites across the UK and Germany. She also has experience organising academic conferences and teaching history to various levels of ability from GCSE to university level.

Her interest in art and community projects has led her to organise the Grangetown Art Trail- bringing art from Grangetown and beyond into our community and the Grangetown Zoo an immersive art installation which, with the help of Grangetown’s children, turns the gated alleys of Grangetown into Zoo enclosures.

She hopes to draw on this experience to both preserve and promote the heritage elements of Insole Court. To this end, she has been working to build Insole Court’s Archive, organising, cataloguing and facilitating access to the collections. She looks forward to continuing her work building the archive and to maintain and improve the access and engagement of Insole Court’s heritage offerings.
