BWY Foundation Course

When: Monthly - weekends

It is a course of self-discovery and development, beyond what is typically covered in general class, and encourages a deeper personal practice.

You will be encouraged to dive into asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, yogic anatomy (chakras, nadis) relaxation, philosophy, yoga history and to deepen your own understanding and experience of yoga throughout your daily life.

The course takes 12 days over 7 months, from September 2020 to April 2021, and is a mix of weekends, and single Saturday or Sundays.

To qualify for the certificate, a minimum of 80% attendance is required.

The course is approximately 50% practice and 50% theoretical. There is no compulsory written homework - no essays. However, background research (either reading or listening to audio books, or reviewing on-line videos) is encouraged. Students are also expected to keep a personal practice journal.

The course aims to widen and deepen your knowledge and practice of yoga, and to inform how you might continue your development beyond the course, including the possibility of moving towards training as a yoga teacher.

Applications are welcome from students from all backgrounds, with a minimum of 2 years consistent practice with a teacher. Students will also need to be current members of the British Wheel of Yoga to start the course.
