Four Mindfulness-Based Summer Taster Sessions

Four Mindfulness-Based taster sessions are aimed at people who are interested in trying Mindfulness as a way to improve wellbeing before coming to an 8- week Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Life course (MBCT for Life) which Clare will run in the autumn term at Insole Court.

The taster sessions are also aimed at people who have already done a Mindfulness course but want to drop into any of the sessions to revitalise their practice. Each Taster sessions has a different theme and can be booked individually or as a package.

Teas/coffee will be provided at each session.

These Mindfulness Taster Sessions are aimed at adults over the age of 18. Young people aged 16-17 who want to attend may do so if they are accompanied by their parent/s. The course is open to absolute beginners and people who have done mindfulness meditation before. You will be led through the Mindfulness Taster Sessions with lots of support from Clare. You can attend individual sessions or all of them.

It is advised to wear comfortable loose clothing for each Taster Session, yoga mats will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Mindfulness Taster Session 1- An Introduction to Mindfulness. Monday 10th June 7.15-8.45 pm

This Taster Session is aimed at beginners with little or no experience in Mindfulness to find out about what mindfulness is, the scientific evidence- based research that it is based on to reduce stress and anxiety and learn some short mindfulness practices. Click here to book

Taster Session 2- Exploring Mindfulness - Breath and Body Monday 17th June 7.15-8.45 pm

TS 2 examines the theory behind why we focus our attention on the breath and body in Mindfulness meditation and then we will put this into practice through guided meditation.

Taster Session 3- Mindful Movement Monday 24th June 7.15- 8.45 pm

TS 3 focuses on deepening awareness of the breath and the body through guided mindful gentle movement.

Taster Session 4- Mindfulness and Happiness Monday 1st July 7.15-8.45 pm

TS 4 examines the theory of why practising mindfulness can make us happier and more content and then we will explore this experientially through guided practice.

The Trainer

Clare has been practising meditation for over 20 years and yoga for 8 years. Clare was a Secondary teacher for over 25 years and a Senior Leader in an inner -city secondary school in Cardiff for 15 years as Head of School and leading on Pupil Wellbeing. She left teaching in 2015 and since then has built up a wealth of experience teaching Mindfulness courses in the last 5 years to staff in schools, colleges and Universities across South Wales as well as Mindfulness -Based Cognitive Therapy courses and Mindfulness retreat days at Insole Court.

She has trained with Bangor University, and Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP)to teach students and staff in schools. Her desire to deepen her practice led Clare to studying at the University of Exeter where she gained a PG Diploma in Psychological Therapies and Mindfulness - Based Cognitive Therapy with Merit in 2018.

Clare is currently listed as a Mindfulness teacher in the UK Network of Mindfulness Teachers as an MBCT (Mindfulness -Based Cognitive Therapy) and MBSR (Mindfulness -Based Stress Reduction) teacher and she follows the Good Practice Guidelines for teaching mindfulness-based courses and regularly attends teacher training workshops, mindfulness meditation retreats and courses.
