This House is a Stage

Insole Court invites you to visit our new permanent exhibition, “This House is a Stage”, an experiential walk-through audio drama that brings local history to life in the form of a dramatic rendition of the rise and the fall of the Insole Family.

The Insole family built and inhabited the mansion, spanning an entire century from their arrival in Cardiff in the 19th century.

Along the way they encounter success and disaster, and climb the social ladder from ambitious tradesmen to wealthy business tycoons.

Now, for the first time since the 1970s, the first floor of our house is open to the public.

Visitors can follow the voices through the abandoned rooms to hear their stories come to life through a mix of audio technology and drama, sharing the story of the Insole family, their triumphs and their tragedies.

Prices: £5 for adults and free entry for under 16’s and Insole Court Supporters

Opening times: 10.30am – 3.30pm Daily. The audio show will take place every hour, on the half hour throughout the day.

Duration: Approximately 40 minutes

Our show is available in both Welsh and English.

Pre-booking is not essential and tickets are available on the day, subject to availability.
