Joan Baker — Colour Mixing Workshop

When: 2.30-4.30pm

A collection of her oil paintings have been generously bequeathed to Insole Court and will be auctioned in order to fund raise for the gardens. Prior to this we have a Colour-Mixing Workshop and a talk on Joan Baker's life.

Joan was captivated by the incredible range of tones and colours, textures and lighting effects of the landscapes and seascapes of her south Wales.Come along to our drop in workshop and learn how to create your own range of colours fit for a garden painting!

From an early age Joan Baker knew she wanted to be ‘a painter who gardened or a gardener who painted’. Her quiet, reflective work gives us an insight into her personal connection with the landscape. Through her creative routine and habitual interpretation of the landscape she produced an enormous body of work.

‘I always choose to work from direct experience and personal observation trying to realise the ground beneath my feet and the sky above my head and all that happens in between; this I find absorbs me entirely.’
