Open, Warm and Free

Come in from the cold and warm up in our beautiful Reading Room. Bring a book or borrow one of ours from the 'Butler's Bookshop'. It's free of charge and you can stay as long as you like during the Mansion's normal opening hours, every day from 10am till 4pm.
Please note: We occasionally close the mansion for weddings or large events. You can find details of upcoming house closures here.

Can I bring a drink with me?
Yes, you can eat and drink in the Reading Room. Please take any litter with you.
Is there WiFi?
Yes. Please ask at the front desk for a login code.
Do I have to pay anything?
No. Entry to the mansion is always free.
Are there other ways I can contribute?
Do you have any old books at home that you no longer need? Why not bring one with you to swap at our Butler's Bookshop.
