Event :Heritage Day

The Insole Court Heritage open day will raise awareness and generate interest of our rich cultural assets. It will be an opportunity to learn, a space for networking and a chance to take part in workshops, talks and interactive trails across the site.

We want to spend the fund on partnering with local schools to provide interactive workshops. We would base the workshops around the art and design work in and around Insole Court, specifically focusing on the Victorian elements of the house to tie in with Key Stage 2 curriculum. The remaining part of the fund would be spent on upgrading our current spaces to make an exhibition space of the work produced by the school pupils and design and print of a Heritage Trail for all ages across the site.

The community and this site have a deeply intertwined history, with Insole Court being saved by the community when threatened with closure. The event will showcase this local gem and further engage the community to continue its legacy. The fund would allow us to work with schools and a new generation with whom we otherwise couldn’t. We want to bring creative and new ways to engage people by making our event accessible to everyone, allowing them to connect with history and be part of its future.
