5 This House is a Stage – An immersive audio tour of the upstairs rooms

Our experiential exhibition brings local history to life in the form of a dramatic rendition of the rise and the fall of the Insole Family who built and inhabited the mansion, spanning an entire century from their arrival in Cardiff in the 19th century.

For the first time since the 1970s, the first floor of our house is open to the public. Visitors can immerse themselves in the triumphs and tragedies of the Insole family by following theatrical voices through the abandoned rooms, hearing the family’s stories come to life through a mixture of audio technology and drama.

  • Opening times: 10.30am – 3.30pm Daily. The audio show will take place every hour, on the half hour throughout the day. Pre-booking is not essential and tickets are available on the day, subject to availability. Runs for approximately 40 minutes.
  • £5 for adults and free entry for under 16’s and Insole Court Supporters
